Greetings Golden Eagles,
It is that time of year again to start thinking about our 2012 reunion. This year Southeast Flight is excited about hosting the reunion in Orlando Florida from 26 thru 28 April (Check out of hotel the morning of the 29th.) This initial letter is intended to provide information to facilitate your and our travel and event planning. Included at the end of this note is a short survey form that will aid us in our planning efforts; we ask that you complete the survey and return it to Roger Sheets by 15 October. Registration packets will be mailed to all Golden Eagles after the first of the year.
Golden Eagle Orlando events include:
Wednesday 25 April - Early arrival of the Golden Eagle board and committee members. Happy hour with heavy snacks in the Ready Room for early arrivals.
Thursday 26 April - Membership Selection Committee and nominating committee meeting in the morning, Board of Governors Meeting in the afternoon and Welcome Aboard Reception in the evening.
Friday 27 April - Your choice of the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Tour, organized by our own member astronaut Robert Crippen or golf at the premier Disney Lake Buena Vista Course (Rated in the top 100 courses in the USA by Golf Weekly). We looked at deconflicting these two events, but were unable to do so during our three day reunion. We expect we will fill the KSC tour (limited to 100 people), so if you are torn between golf and the tour, please support our golf event. We need a minimum of 40 golfers to get the group rate.
Saturday 28 April - Membership Meeting in the morning, the Memorial Service in the afternoon and the Banquet in the evening.
For those that desire, free trolleys leave every 30 minutes from the hotel to Disney theme parks. Tickets to these parks can be purchased on site at the concierge or gift shop, at the theme park or beforehand either on line or from any military MWR office. Free trolleys also leave from and return to the hotel to transport guests to Prime Outlets, an outlet mall with 175 high end shops. Thursday and Saturday at breakfast the hotel brings in Disney characters for picture taking; bring home a picture for the grandkids.
Hotel Accommodations - The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista hotel will be the location for the Orlando Reunion. The Wyndham is an official Walt Disney World hotel located 17 miles from the Orlando airport on 13 acres of beautiful landscaped parks and lakes. Conveniently located across the street from Downtown Disney, it is within easy walking distance to a myriad of wonderful shops and beautiful restaurants.
FOR RESERVATIONS: You can click on the internet link below which will take you to the Golden Eagle rate page for reservations. If making reservations by phone, mention that you are with The Golden Eagles group or use the group code below. The room rate for a Tower Lake King or DBL is: $115.00 plus tax and resort fee. The rate for a Disney View King or DBL is $125.00 plus tax and fee. Both rooms are the same; however, the Disney Rooms are on the upper floors and provides a spectacular view of Downtown Disney and the theme parks. This rate will apply from 24 thru 30 April, so plan on coming early or staying late. Our block of rooms, which is now activated, will fill up fast, so please book early so we can expand the block to accommodate all Eagles. Booking information below:
